MPPT – Maximum Power Point Tracking
MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) is a control algorithm used in inverters to constantly adjust voltage and current in order to operate PV modules at their optimal power point.
How it works
-
The inverter continuously monitors the I-V (current-voltage) curve
-
It finds the point where P = V × I is maximized
-
Conditions change with temperature, irradiance, and shading, requiring dynamic tracking
Importance
-
Ensures maximum energy harvest at all times
-
Critical in systems with:
-
Partial shading
-
Varying orientations
-
Long strings with voltage variation
