# Riso event

## A Riso event indicates an insulation resistance fault (Riso = Resistance of insulation) detected between a PV system’s active conductors and ground. It’s a common safety-related alarm in solar installations.

### What triggers it?

- Moisture ingress in connectors, junction boxes, or cables
- Damaged cable insulation
- Ground faults or wiring defects

### Impact

- May shut down the inverter for safety
- Can lead to loss of production or delayed grid injection
- Repeated Riso alarms may indicate progressive system degradation
